Sound Design for Video Games

A JOURNEY INTO THE WORLD OF SOUND DESIGN FOR GAMES AT FULL SAIL UNIVERSITY

During the last few months I worked on learning the ins and outs of designing and implimenting sounds to video games.

There were two main projects that I had the pleasure of working on. One of these, was an example game that takes place inside a graveyard. This scene called for eerie sounds like whispers of the dammed, as well as some natural ones like owls and wildlife. This first project was a challenge for me for I have never done anything like this before. With that being said, I enjoyed it! It was so much fun to take everyday sounds like, a fan, or something rudementary and make it into something completely different.

The other project was another example game that takes place inside of a space facility. This one had a very different feel from the other. There were computers and everything in this space ship was industrial. Having a background in heavy metal music, I was used to creating some wacky industrial sounds. Taking the knowledge from the first project and applying it to this one, I created some very cool sounds!

I know you are probably thinking "These projects sound interesting, I would love to see them." Well, you're in luck! Below are two videos. One being a demo reel from the two video games showcasing the sounds I created. The second, well, I don't normally like to give out my secrets, but I decided that I would be nice and show you my proccess for creating a low white noise rumble.
